6:00pm.....11.09........update

during last hours thr lung bypass machine has been hooked up it helps oxygenate and clean the blood...trying to reduce stress on new lungs..EKMO is the device...this was a pretty big deal involved a lot of folks....the hall was once again full of equipment and folks working for Emily......it’s calm at this moment but last hour was a bit frantic with BP and other issues......also dialysis is going....general surgeons stopped by to look at bandaging over her abdominal cavity .........we saw the transplant surgeon....... he reaffirmed how difficult the transplant had been.....what is going on is unusual and truly has everyone’s attention. Hopefully she can hold this level for the night.......each hour is a milestone and hard to grasp she hasn’t been in ICU for a full day........I think that the pattern is going to be ongoing ups and downs......think good thoughts.....I’m thinking the night will be long...we’ll be with Emily and tag team a little sleep in family room in cruel chairs ...trying not to snore or drool too much.....so blogging energy may be limited....keith and peg

  3. Thank you, dear Keith and Peg...every word that you share --even when serious-- brings us new hope that Emily's spirit and the spirits all of you helping her, are razor focused on regaining her strength and health. I hope and pray that you two can get some much needed rest in between. May your angels watch over you and Emily and bring her renewed strength by morning that surprises all the docs! "God will renew your strength like the eagles." quote from Isaiah comes to mind. I remember rafting with you guys and Emily getting great joy out of spotting an eagle. Much love, Gina

  8. Em, your Florida folks are with you. I want to be there when we return to Beacon Hill and the warm and humid air of the Gulf fills your new lungs as you walk on its incomparable sugar white sands. Soon, strong Warrior, soon. Rick

We are praying for Emily’s body to recover fully and for her to have many wonderful happy healthy years with her new lungs. Hugs to you Keith and Peggy, as you fight along side your incredible girl. Blessings of rest, peace and hope over Emily and you both.

  14. I tried to comment before but don’t think it went through. Hoping that each hour brings more strength and stability for Em. It must be agonising to watch your daughter go through this again. I hope you both have lots of support around you. Stay strong! Em - you have so much more to do in this life so keep fighting! Thinking of you all and sending loads of love from Oz. Cassie
